Genetically Modified Food Toxins Showing up in Our Blood

A new study is causing fresh doubts about the safety of genetically modified crops. The research found Bt toxin, which is present in many genetically modified crops, in human blood. 85 percent of U.S. corn crops contain a special gene added that allows them to produce an insecticide. Specifically it is a type of bt toxin. Genetic engineers remove the gene that produces the Bt in bacteria and insert it into the DNA of corn (and cotton) plants. Not only does this effect you but your future generations aswell:

“Scientists … have detected the insecticidal protein …  circulating in the blood of pregnant as well as non-pregnant women. They have also detected the toxin in fetal blood, implying it could pass on to the next generation.”

Bt toxin is readily passing into the human bloodstream and animal studies have already shown that Bt toxins does cause health effects. Jeffery Smith, executive director of the Institute for Responsible Technology wrote:

“Mice fed natural Bt-toxin showed significant immune responses and caused them to become sensitive to other formerly harmless compounds. This suggests that Bt-toxin might make a person allergic to a wide range of substances.

Farm workers and others have also had reactions to natural Bt-toxin, and authorities acknowledge that “People with compromised immune systems or preexisting allergies may be particularly susceptible to the effects of Bt.

The Bt-toxin produced in the GM plants is probably more dangerous than in its natural spray form. In the plants, the toxin is about 3,000-5,000 times more concentrated than the spray, it doesn’t wash off the plants like the spray does, and it is designed to be more toxic than the natural version.”

GM Insecticide Poisons Also Showing Up in Waterways:

The protein is getting into the waterways via corn stalks, leaves, husks and cobs that blow into the water — a phenomenon that’s incredibly common since farmers often leave such material in fields to help minimize soil erosion.

Eighty-six percent of the streams tested contained various corn material with the potential to transmit Bt-toxin into the water. Further, because the study was conducted six months after crops were harvested, it indicates that the GM protein lingers in the environment. Now that this GM toxin is showing up in waterways, it has the potential to devastate aquatic life and continue to spread, uncontrolled and unrestricted, across the entire United States and world.

About 85 percent of the corn grown in the United States is genetically engineered to either produce an insecticide, or to survive the application of herbicide. And about 91-93 percent of all soybeans are genetically engineered to survive massive doses of Roundup herbicide.

What this means is that nearly ALL foods you buy that contain either corn or soy, in any form, will contain GM components unless it’s certified organic. Organic certifications restrict any kind of genetically modified foods/ingredients. Support your bodies, not the GM industry and buy organic local food. You deserve it.

The Truth About Protein: and the best ways to get it

Throughout western culture there is an obsession with protein. One of the most frequently asked  questions I get is “How do you get your protein?” Well my answer is that protein is produced in your body from amino acids and non-animal protein sources usually contain all nine of the essential amino acids. Some just have amounts that are low in one of two of the amino acids. For example, grains are lower in lysine (an essential amino acid).

There recently was a confusion due to Frances Moore Lappe’s advocacy on the combinig of a food low in one amino acid with another food containing large amounts of that amino acid. She was simply trying to state how to aquire the highest amounts of complete amino acids. You do not have to combine different foods in order to get adequate protein. By simply having a well rounded plant based diet you will get more than enough protein.

Too much protein is bad:
Too much protein, especially animal protein, can impair our kidneys, leach calcium, zinc, vitiman B, Iron, and magnesium from our bodies and cause osteoporosis, heart disease, cancer and obeasity.

Why it is necessary for your body:
Protein produces enzymes, hormones, neurotransmitters, and anti-bodies; replaces worn out cells; transports various substances throughout the body and aids in growth and repair.

Best Plant Based Sources of Protein:

Spirulina- A high and complete protein alge that contains omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, B-12, enzymes and minerals. It also supports the immune system, fights cancer and helps with hypoglycemia, anemia, ulcers, diabetes, and chronic fatigue syndrome. It also contains all nine essential amino acids. Best when mixed into a smoothie.

Quinoa- too is a complete protein, as it includes all nine essential amino acids. It also is a concentrated source of dietry iron, manganese, copper and dietary fiber.

Spinach, Crimini Mushrooms, Asparagus, Broccoli, Collard Greens, Lentils, Pumpkin Seeds, Kidney, Fava and Yardlong beans, Walnuts, sunflower seeds and shelled hemp seeds are also great sources of protein. So dont worry, if you are eating a well balanced diet, such as eating as many different colors of food as you can, you are getting ample amounts of protein.

Plant based proteins are higher in fiber and lower in cholesterol than animal based proteins, and are a healther and easier to digest choice.

U:

You are beautiful, you are conscious, you are breathing, you are reading, you are here, you are awake, you are fortunate. This weekend I had another life changing experience.  I went to a conference on unified field theory. I already knew many of the concepts, but was unaware of their significance. My life was put into check. It supported my thought on why we are here; to love, experience love, be happy, to create and be healthy. Every day is a gift. Just in case you forgot we are traveling through space at light speed, it is amazing that we are even in one piece. :) What I learned was that we are the result of the universe becoming conscious of itself. In order for things to evolve they must learn. When we learn, in turn the universe learns. The universe evolves because there is a synergetic relationship of every moment. There is a continuous feedback loop of the universe learning about itself. As it learns it embeds information within space time, which is what we know as time. Time only exists in memory, without memory there is no time. Everything just is, and so it needs memory in order to evolve, to leave foot prints.

We are so fortunate to be conscious beings that can create our own reality.  We are here to become our highest potentials. To awake each morning and smile because we woke up. Recognize the essential things from the non essential. Set your goals and accomplish them by believing them.  If your intention is needed for evolution it will appear. Change the world by changing within yourself. Appreciate that you are here now, and recognize that you create your own circumstance. No one else, only you. Think clearly and precisely, and remember, success is a journey, not a destination. Be present, for the present moment is the only time that is guaranteed.

Super Smoohie

Start your day with this smoothie and feel the difference in energy, patience, decreased appetite and overall performance.

Serves 2:

1 banana
5 strawberries
your preference of blueberries and raspberries
almond milk to preference- about 3 cups usually depending on desired consistency
2 tblsp Maca Powder
1-2 tblsp Spirulina
2-3 tblsp of Flax Oil
feel free to add vanilla or fruits

Why its so good for you:
Bananas: are one of the best sources of potassium as well as vitamin B6. And the vitamin C and maganese found in bananas provide antioxidant protection against free-radical damage to cellular structures.

Strawberries: are rich in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory protection and are a rich source of Vitamin C. In animal studies, researchers have found that strawberries help protect the brain from oxidative stress and may reduce the effects of age-related declines in brain function. They also have been associated with decreased rates of cancer death.

Blueberries: are one of the best “brain foods” as they have compounds that boost neuron signals and help turn systems in the brain back on that can lead to using other proteins to help with memory or other cognitive skills. A USDA researcher and chemist based at the University of Mississippi School or Pharmacy released a study showing that blueberries work better than common cholesterol-lowering drug with fewer side effects. They are also high in manganese, Vitamin C and dietary fiber.

Raspberries: contain high amounts of calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, vitamin B3, and vitamin C. They have antioxidant activity that helps prevent unwanted damage to cell membranes and other structures in the body by neutralizing overly reactive oxygen-containing molecules called free radicals. They help expel mucus, phelgm, toxins and are excellent for female reproductive health. They also relieve menstrual cramps.

Almonds: are high in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, folic acid, vitamin B2, vitamin B3 and vitamin E. They are very alkaline and provide a good source of protein.

Maca Powder: has been used by indigenous Andean societies as a source of nourishment and healing for thousands of years. Studies have identified four alkaloids present in maca known to nourish the endocrine system. endocrine system is a collection of glands that produce chemical “messengers” called hormones essential for normal bodily functions. A wide variety of physiological processes are carried out unconsciously by these “messengers”. Once released they flow directly into the bloodstream and are transported to organs and tissues throughout the entire body.
Scientists and doctors are now finding maca to be one of the best natural ways to regulate and support endocrine health. This action regulates metabolism, energy levels, growth, sexual development and the sense of well being and attitude.

Maca does not contain hormones itself. Instead it provides a unique set of nutrients that directly fuel the endocrine system and help the glands to produce vital hormones in precise dosages predetermined by one’s own body.

Maca root has also been used as a stress-fighting adaptogen to increase stamina, boost libido and combat fatigue. It is a nutrient dense supper food packed with vitamins, plant sterols as well as many essential minerals, fatty and amino acids.

Spirulina: One of the most important of all spirulina benefits is that it has an unusually high amount of protein. It is a complete protein, is rich with several different types of essential fatty acid, and contains Vitamin B1, B2, B3, B6, B9, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin A and Vitamin E. It is also a source of such minerals as potassium, calcium, chromium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, and zinc.

The most important and popular spirulina health benefit that comes with regular supplementation is weight loss. Spirulina weight loss is natural, it has all the major vitamins, amino acids and nutrients required by the human body and it has a very high protein content, with 70% complete protein. It is also free of carbohydrates and sugar. As a result, it acts as a potent appetite suppressant reducing body weight over time.

Here are a few more benefits:

Boosts the Immune System
Improves Digestion
Reduces fatigue
Build Endurance
Nature’s Detoxifier - Cleanses the body
Boosts Energy Levels
Controls Appetite
Maintains Healthy Cardiovascular function
Support the Liver and Kidneys
Reduces Inflammation
Benefits People Who Suffer from Allergies

Flax Oil: is the most concentrated plant source of the omega-3 fatty acid, alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a precursor to the omega-3s found in cold water fish. Omega-3 fatty acids are heart healthy nutrients that also have anti-inflammatory properties. ALA is a readily form of energy and fatty acid essential for proper skin function. They are also a very good source of dietary fiber, increasing frequency of bowel movements. Flaxseeds were found to be the most concentrated source of hormone like agents that demonstrate a number of protective effects against breast cancer and are believed to be one reason that vegetarian diet is associated with a lower risk for breast cancer.

I know a lot to read… but feel the difference yourself. We only learn through experience! Enjoy!
